Twenty Four Hours

Chapter-2
________

15 July,1993 ,
the young doctor walked excitedly in the galleries of The Princeton Institute Of Genetic Studies. It had always been his dream to come to this great institute.Years of hard work and countless sleepless nights, and he was finally here.He was dreaming with open eyes.

They called him the maniac, for he would sit in the library the whole day, reading those freaky old books with enthusiasm as a five years old would read his fairy tales. No signs of food or water taken, they thought he had chosen death to be his destiny. They didn't knew till now that Dr.Henry Rogers would give a new meaning to the word "destiny".

Five months passed, the doctors saw a shift in Dr.Rogers' interests. His long hours in the library were replaced by long hours to his new found residency,'Princeton Advanced Genetic Lab'.No one had any clue what he did there all day.

Riboxavic di-colli-143 had shown positive replication reply over the epidermal sample layer the doctor had prepared last week.If it was someone other than the brilliant doctor,he would have no clue what it meant. But,a wide smile in the face of Dr.Rogers a rather emotionless fellow, meant there was something exceptionally wonderful going on over there.

All the previous samples had been negative over the epidermal layer tissue sample, taken from his very own skin. But this di-colli family was different from all other bacilli. Not only that it showed a positive response the rate of replication was almost double. The only problem was that the speedy rate meant that the replication would be astonishing for some period but the bacilli would ultimately consume the sample tissue in the process of symbiotic replication and then the entire sample would be oxidised as if it were never there.
